No restaurant is an island. At The Dining Room, we realize how important it is to belong to the community, and to do your best to serve it whenever possible. To
that end, we maintain several close affiliations with charity and professional development organizations.
Table to Table
North Jersey’s only food rescue and delivery program serving four counties in Northern New Jersey. Table to Table’s mission is to serve organizations that
assist people in hunger distress by rescuing and delivering wholesome and nutritionally balanced food fresh every day. Last year, the organization met its
goal of delivering over 3 Million meals to shelters, pantries and soup kitchens.
The Dining Room participates in Table to Table’s annual fundraising events,
and was featured and used as a filming site for the Table to Table fundraising/appeal film.
Share Our Strength
Share Our Strength is a national organization dedicated to serving the hungry and homeless in America. In particular, SOS’ renewed mission is to eradicate child hunger in this country. The organization does this through its Taste of the Nation events, the largest culinary benefits to end hunger, held in major cities throughout the country. In 2004, The Dining Room participated in Taste of the Nation New York City, the first-ever non New York City restaurant to do so.
The James Beard Foundation
The nationally recognized not-for-profit association dedicated to furthering the full appreciation of the culinary arts in America. The Foundation maintains the Beard House in New York City, a historic location where virtually every renowned Chef has had to cook to prove his or her worthiness in the culinary arts. They say musicians have Carnegie Hall, singers have the Metropolitan Opera House and chefs have the Beard House .In October of 2004, Chef Pino was asked to cook at the Beard House, and his event was sold out and wildly appreciated by the members. He has been asked back for late 2005. (Pending.)
A Taste of Hoboken
This event benefits the North Hudson YMCA's program expansion and scholarship programs. A Taste of Hoboken follows in the footseps of many of the "taste of" events that have been created in the culinary world. As a proponent of the culinary arts, and the city of Hoboken, The Dining Room has been proud to participate in this event for every year it's been open. Some of our diners' favorite recipes have been unveiled at the Taste of Hoboken event. The event has grown in size and stature as many restaurants have opened here in the last several years. |
